about
Unmixed, unmastered demo.
This song, originally titled "Fairclough" – named after the cheap acoustic guitar it was written on – was first recorded in Garageband. Years later, after losing the multi-tracks, I re-recorded it from scratch in Logic Pro X, which was actually a fun challenge.
Eventually, I added lyrics, which were quite literally a diary entry, but they needed a mirror – a bookend. So I wrote a response from a female perspective. I asked my friend Java to translate and perform the new monologue into her native French, and I was floored by the results.
The content of these verses are not terribly important, which is why they're buried under effects (full disclosure: they are frighteningly personal as well). Ultimately, they are simply meant to be evocative and emotional above all.

"I'd seen the future – engulfed briefly in circular, simultaneous time and memory – before receding into the usual blanket of tachyons.
I know you're not listening to this, because if you are, I've tried too hard to get it to you."

On a changé.

Though I had the pleasure of art directing this excellent EP, I had nothing to do with the music, which is why I still feel confident giving it my highest recommendation. Please enjoy. 23rd Boy
Saul Williams is a personal hero. He may be best known for his acting or poetry, but his musical output is what inspires me most. "Encrypted and Vulnerable" gets better with every listen. 23rd Boy
This is a majestic album by another longtime favorite artist. Josh Eustis does something special here that I won't bother trying to describe. I simply hope you take the deeply affecting journey. 23rd Boy
